Review For The EP-1272 Massage Chair

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

This review is of the Panasonic massage chair model EP 1272. The EP 1272 is part of the Real Pro Elite series of massage recliners. Panasonic is known for its advanced massage techniques and simple electronics. This review will point out the main features, functions and warranty coverage for your perusal.

The warranty protection is critical on big ticket items such as massage chairs. You want to make sure you have adequate protection down the road, regardless of brand. The EP 1272 comes with 3 years parts and 1 year labor. Service for repair is through an authorized dealer. This may be convenient for Panasonic, but not for the owner of a 200 lb. massage chair. They now offer in home service, but this service is not included.

Let’s look at some of the more important features of this shiatsu recliner. There are many therapeutic massage functions incorporated into this model. There are 4 automatic massage programs, 8 manual massage programs, and 3 manual back massage courses. There are also lower body air massage capabilities for the calves and feet.

The EP 1272 has 4 automatic, one touch programs. There is the Shiatsu massage for stimulating the back, shoulders and neck with both tapping and deep rubbing movements. Try the Swedish which uses longer strokes to loosen back muscles and then uses rhythmic, circular motions to relieve tightness. The Stretch massage will elongate the back, neck and shoulder muscles with a combination of shiatsu, kneading, rolling and pressing massages. If you do not have much time, select Quick for a fast but thorough loosening of the full back and neck.

With the EP-1272, there are 8 manual massage techniques for a tremendous variety of options for your massage therapy needs. The Real Pro Elite series features the following massages: Swedish, Hawaiian, soft shiatsu, tapping, regional rolling and full rolling. We particularly like the Hawaiian massage which loosens up the back muscles and also provides deeper penetration. Got tight shoulders, try the kneading massage to relieve the tension. The compression massage is great to provide overall relief and to help your full body relax. This massage recliner has some sensational massage therapies.

The EP1272 shiatsu massage recliner comes with a leg rest massager. The leg rest can massage both your feet and your calves. You can raise the leg rest more horizontal and place you feet in it for a soothing foot massage. The leg rest comes with built in air bags that gently inflate to provide a compression massage. The compression massage is excellent for relieving tight, sore muscles.

The remote control of the EP 1272 is well designed. The main automatic programs work from one-touch buttons. The manual massage functions are contained in a middle side panel of the main remote. The side panel can be flipped open to reveal the manual controls. You can adjust the massage intensity or speed. There is a function to adjust the width of the back rollers. This is used on the tapping, soft shiatsu and rolling massages. You can also select the area of focus for the back. There are options for the neck/shoulders, lower back and for pinpointing.

The EP-1272 is a solid contributor to the Real Pro Elite massage chair line by Panasonic. You have such a wide range of manual massage therapies. You would be hard pressed not to find relief with this machine. Although, the massage chair is solidly built, we have to say we are not impressed with the short warranty coverage from Panasonic. They also need to work on the industrial design and make it more aesthetic for the average residence. But on the massage side, the EP-1272 is a solid performer and one of the better values in the mid range massage chair recliner market.

This review presented the EP-1272 Massage Chair by Panasonic. We got Panasonic as well as all the best massage chair models from Omega, Human Touch and Sanyo. We got massage chairs for effective massage therapy.

Can Massage Therapy Help Prevent Injuries?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Massage therapy is an ancient art and science dating back as far as 2000 BC. The popularity of massages has endured because it is a proven method of improving one’s physical health and emotional well being. Massage is the therapeutic manual manipulation of the body’s soft tissues. It not only is used to relax muscles and stimulate healing of deep tissue injuries, but it can also be used to prevent injuries.

Massage therapy can help treat and prevent not only sports injuries, but also injuries received during everyday activities. This type of therapy helps to improve and maintain muscle and connective tissue health which helps to reduce the chance of injury. It focuses on such areas as muscle tone and relaxation, range of motion, and flexibility. The muscles, tissues, tendons, and ligaments are manipulated manually using specific massage techniques for the purpose of restoring elasticity to the deep tissues and strengthening muscles to allow for more elasticity. This allows for better movement and makes the body less at risk of receiving an injury.

Massage therapy supplies provides a number of therapeutic effects that helps minimize the chance of receiving an injury. For instance, over time, muscles can tighten and shorten which increases the risk of muscle, ligament, and tendon strains. Regular massage sessions helps keep muscles and tissues loose and flexible decreasing the risk of strain and tears. A deep tissue massage will improve circulation so that blood flow carrying oxygen and nutrients to the tissues will be increased. This will optimize muscle and ligament health and relieve muscle stiffness and tension.

There are massage techniques that cause the body to release natural chemicals called endorphins which are natural pain killers. It has also been shown that massage therapy on a regular basis can not only help prevent injury, but it also helps extend an athlete’s career by maintaining physical health. Other ways regular massage sessions helps prevents injuries includes: improving mobility, joint flexibility and range of motion, increasing circulation, strengthening the immune system, and alleviating musculoskeletal problems which will improve posture.

When given by a by an experienced and licensed massage therapist, a massage will alleviate tension all over the body, including stress tension. One will be healthier, feel good all over, and be in better shape to ward off injury from engaging in everyday tasks such as house cleaning, gardening, moving items, and much more. A massage therapist is able to identify any tender areas that need work and stimulate the muscles and tissues to strengthen and tone. It is important to use the services of a licensed massage therapist as a person unskilled in the art and science of massage with no massage therapy equuipmet can cause injury. As well a professional massage will reduce the instances of soreness, spasms, pain in specific areas such as in the neck and lower back, improves joint flexibility, and improves range of motion, decreases blood pressure which can decrease the chance of a stroke or heart attack, and ensure fluids drain properly instead of accumulating in one area. The over all result is an increase in comfort and more ability to engage in physical activities.

Massage therapy has been practiced for so many years because of its proven health benefits. It is even a part of many conventional health treatments. In fact, many health insurance companies provide coverage for therapeutic massages. It is a therapeutic and preventative technique practiced by millions of people of all ages throughout the world.

Can Physical Therapy Help Me Avoid Surgery?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Pain is our body’s way of letting us know everything is not all right. Pain in the body can result from chronic conditions such as arthritis, or because of an injury. Often times, surgery is recommended to treat or remedy the situation. And while we may follow our doctor’s advice without asking too many questions, many times surgery isn’t necessary at all. In certain situations, time spent with a physical therapist can ease or even reverse your condition and make surgery completely unnecessary. Add to that the fact that for many people, going under the knife is frightening in itself, and it is easy to see why someone would seek out another option.

Physical therapists use their expertise of the body, and various pieces of physical therapy equipment to treat your injury. Every situation is different, and there are some cases where surgery is definitely the only way to go, but generally physical therapy will always provide some benefit.

Surgery will usually be necessary when tissues and muscles are torn to the point that they must be manually put back together to heal. Compound fractures are another injury that may require surgery in order to heal properly. Physical therapy can help you avoid surgery for conditions such as strains, sprains, some fractures, tendonitis, back pain and even dislocated shoulders. It is also helpful for some degenerative conditions like arthritis, disc degeneration and pain caused by postural problems.

Different types of physical therapy supplies and equipment are used by the therapist to heal your injury and help you avoid surgery. Types of therapy can include hydro therapy, electro therapy, heat and cold therapy, suspension aids, traction aids and different exercise equipment.

Hydro therapy immerses you in water in various tanks and tubs to help increase blood flow and take the resistance of gravity away. Another piece of physical therapy equipment used in hydro therapy is your typical whirlpool bath.

Electro therapy includes providing an electric current to muscles and nerves to help stimulate blood flow and tissue. Different muscle stimulation and ultrasound devices are used as part of treatment.

Physical therapy supplies used in heat and cold treatment include a paraffin wax bath, hot steam packs and cold packs. They are usually used in the management of swelling and/or pain in different joints and muscles.

Suspension and traction aids are heavy-duty looking pieces of equipment for patients who need to be immobilized to some degree for treatment to be effective.

There are many different techniques and treatment options available to the physical therapist to help you avoid surgery. Some valuable tips to help give you the best chance at avoiding surgery for your particular condition would be to always li

Review About The SA 5000-KU Massage Chair By Recliner By Sanyo

Monday, June 7th, 2010

This massage chair review is of the Sanyo SA 5000. We will review the key features, warranty coverage and other relevant items of this shiatsu recliner. Sanyo has integrated some interesting technology to provide effective massage therapy. This review is designed to help those looking for a mid range massage chair recliner. Let us take a look at this state of the art massage chair by Sanyo.

Sanyo has made some changes to its warranty for the benefit of the consumer. Sanyo covers the roller mechanism for 3 years, provides 1 year on the other parts and 1 year labor. They have started in home technician service and will cover the first year. This is a great step forward, because before you needed to take your chair to a service center. This was not much fun for anyone who had to do it. Also, Sanyo has a national call center which is open 24/7. This has allowed them to centralize control over parts logistics and improve service levels.

This mid range Sanyo has a remote control as well as a wired sub remote. The main remote control has 4 automatic programs and a selection of manual programs. It has one button automatic programs which initiate the massage at the touch of a button. The manual massages come with manual massage courses. The manual massage courses enable the user to target particular areas to focus the massage. You can target the upper back and the massage will be confined to this area only. The control takes a little investment in time to get to know, but overall is fairly intuitive to use and learn.

One of the features rolled down from the higher end Sanyo is the perspiration and pulse sensor. This sensor is built into the wired sub remote. It detects areas of stress in the body. The sensor then feeds this information to the computer and the software will adjust the massage to target areas based on these readings. In order for this to function, the user must grip the sensor throughout the massage. Also, the sub remote allows you to change the position of the chair back and the leg rest. It also has a repeat function. The repeat function will command the chair to repeat the massage just given in the place it was given. This is convenient when it hits one of the key places and you need it to stay there a little longer.

This mid range massage chair has four massage treatments. You can choose from Stiffness, Recovery, Relax and Fine. Stiffness is a Shiatsu style massage for the back, neck, shoulders and legs. Recovery targets stiff and tight muscles. Relax is more tranquil and is focused on full body relaxation. Fine helps to increase circulation of blood and lymph. Each of these massages can be used in conjunction with the 3 stretching functions. These stretching functions work in conjunction with the full body massages.

The manual massage techniques include the following: Grip, Shiatsu, Kneading, Tapping, and Combination. Grip makes use of the exclusive GK Rollers specially designed by Sanyo. The GK roller system can extend further outward than most roller systems. This makes gripping or grasping over the tops of the shoulders or around the neck possible. This is effective to provide relief in this area. Shiatsu is a combination of chopping and kneading actions. The kneading massage is a side to side pinching action which is very relieving. Tapping is a rapid succession of soft blows to loosen stiff muscle areas. Combination is using kneading and tapping simultaneous.

The Sanyo SA-5000 also has an effective lower body massage. The lower body massage is an air compression system which utilizes airbags to give a compression massage. The airbags are located to target the thighs, calves and feet. There are specially designed shiatsu pressure point nodes in some of the airbags to hit your trigger points. These trigger points are based on acupressure massage and help induce full body relaxation. The air bags provide an effective squeeze to loosen and invigorate tight muscles of the thighs, calves and feet. Sanyo has also included a heater element in the foot wells to warm the soles of your feet.

We like the SA 5000 massage recliner from Sanyo. It has some great integrated technology like the pulse and perspiration sensor and the GK roller system. These are innovations you would expect from a large electronics company. We are less impressed with the look of the chair as it is a bit industrial in design. The warranty is fair and the 1 year in home service is an added benefit. You should really look at an extended warranty if it is offered for additional protection. If you are looking for a mid range massage chair, then this one should be on your short list.

Learn why the Sanyo Massage Chairs are a terrific massage chair line. Browse our massage chair reviews and find out why the SA-5000 Massage Chair is the best in class. You will find a excellent selection of massage chairs from Panasonic, Human Touch, and Omega.

Massage And The Important In Healing

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Back in time before all of medical modern advances, before medicines, drugs, needles, and surgery. It was common for individuals to treat themselves to frequent massages, for relief of many aliments.

The basic instinct to feel touch when hurt is as natural as our flight or fight response. Many physicians believe the powers of massage, no matter how deep or superficial it is.

Development of massage came over time. There are several types of massage techniques and movements, so we listed the most frequently used in our office.

SWEDISH MASSAGE uses several strokes to smooth tension and heal soreness. The common strokes or moevments are: effleurage or stroking; petrissage or muscle lifting and grabbing; friction or use of fingers and thumbs working the deep thick muscles; tapotement or chopping tapping or beating movements; and vibration for finger pressed firmly on the muscles, then the area is stimulated quickly for several seconds. The effleurage and tapoement strokes are the most popular.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE works deeper than a Swedish massage, working past the couple of layers that Swedish massage does. The slow deep strokes and pressure from the deep muscle techniques work across the grain of the muscle. therapist use their fingers thumbs and arms to apply the pressure to help release the muscle tension and spasm from injuries.

SPORTS MASSAGE is designed to help you train better, and recover quicker, .whether you’re a world class athlete or a weekend enthusiast. The techniques are similar to those in Swedish and Deep tissue massage, but can be altered to meet an individual athletes needs. Pre-competition massage can help warm up muscles and improve circulation before competition, and also energize or relax an athlete and help him or her focus on the competition. Post-competition massage can help rid toxins and waste products out of the body and increase recovery time.

NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE is a deep tissue massage used to target a specific muscle group. This technique is used for increased blood flow reduce pain and pressure in the muscles or nerves from injuries. Trigger point release and muscle adhesion break ups are performed with this massage. This massage is best used with spinal manipulation, physical therapy and other physical medicine techniques.

Massage Breasts to Thwart Breast Cancer

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Women hear all the time about the importance of doing a monthly breast exam but they aren’t quite sure why they really need to do it.The monthly breast exam is actually a breast massage technique that helps a woman to thoroughly check her breasts for any abnormalities.Breast Cancer is something that effects at least 250, 000 women each and every year. In some cases, the cancer is found too late and there is nothing that can be done.Out of all women affected, it is said that at least 14,000 of those women will die from breast cancer. This is why a monthly breast exam is essential to help find breast cancer early.

Most women will tell you that they wear a bra for the majority of their day, which would mean that women spend about 6 to 24 hours per day wearing a bra. Many wear bras that are too tight, which restricts the movement of the breast. A woman’s breast naturally bounces when she moves, which is a good thing as it allows the breast tissue to release harmful toxins that build up daily. When you restrict the movement of the breast, you allow these toxins to build up in the breast tissue and this can be disastrous.

There’s another thing that’s important about women and breast cancer, though, and that is that constriction, such as that caused by wearing a bra for too many hours in the day, may actually contribute to the occurrence of breast cancer. Many women wear bras that are too small, and bras themselves are very restrictive to breast movements regardless. Women’s breasts are normally meant to move as they move, which helps keep the lymphatic system moving and therefore clears toxins out of the breast tissue. However, when bras are worn too tight and/or for too many hours at a time, toxins are allowed to build up because they aren’t normally released, as they should be, through the lymphatic system. In some cases, this can cause significant health problems, including cancer.

With a weekly breast massage, toxins that would normally build up in tissue can be released, which may in turn reduce the incidence of masses that can come from those toxins and actually form cancer. Some have said that this reduces a woman’s chance of getting breast cancer by as much as 42%. That’s a big difference, and it can literally save a life to do a weekly breast massage. Best of all, it doesn’t take much time either. Too often, women skip their monthly breast exams because they don’t know how to do them, or they don’t think they’re important enough. Doing a weekly breast massage, though, can help reduce the risk of getting breast cancer. There are three steps to doing a proper breast exam.

First Step is to get comfortable and disrobe the breast area so you have access to the breast tissue.Next, you will want to use your index and middle finger to gently apply pressure to the breast starting the nipple area and working your way outward to the end or edge of the breast.Do this going all the way around the breast two times. You may be able to increase the amount of pressure as you feel the toxins being released but if not just continue with the second time with the same amount of pressure when you started.

Third Step, you can do this in the shower with soap or out of the shower with lotion. You will want to apply either the lotion or the soap and cup your breast with your hand working a circular motion, rotating the breast in a clockwise manner. Do these two times then work in a counter clockwise motion for 2 more times. Do not use too much pressure on the breast as you need to be able to allow the breast to flow back through the hand. Repeat the entire process on the other breast.

By doing this at least once a week you will see an improvement in the health of your breasts and you may be saving your life from breast cancer.

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

We know we need to take good care of our bodies. We also know that having good health should be a higher priority. We get so busy, we just do not have time for everything. Out goes the window our long term health. We accumulate stress throughout the day and need a way to release it. Since ancient times, massage therapy was the answer to releasing stress and relaxing. Time at the day spa would be nice, if only I had the time. This is where a massage chair can help.

The premier massage chair brands build in an arsenal of advanced massage therapies. How can a massage chair help me? Massage chairs recliners are capable of performing full body massages. Need attention to your shoulders, push the button. Lower back got you down, push the button. Do your feet ache? push the button. Relief from aches, pains and discomfort are only a push of a button away.

Massage therapy is being recognized in more studies as an effective treatment to increase blood flow and lymph flow; reduce stress; relax muscles; reduce heart rate; and improve range of motion. These are significant findings. However, these benefits are premised on obtaining these therapies on a periodic basis. Just like diet and exercise, massage needs to be part of your total health routine. Not just something done a few times a year.

One of the great challenges in life is time. This is why massage therapy is not a greater part of our total health routine. A massage chair helps to save time. How does it do it. It is always available 24/7 and in the convenience of my home. I do not have to make an appointment. I do not have to drive to and from the day spa. I just walk a few feet, sit down and let this tireless mechanical masseuse release those built up pressures.

One of the big time savers, not that I want to rush your massage, is how a massage chair delivers the massage versus a therapist. The typical massage therapist starts you on your back, works up and down your back. Works down one leg and then the other. Flips you over and then continues on to one leg and then the other. Next, one arms and then the other. The therapist covers 5 major areas in 50 minutes. This is roughly 10 minutes per area.

Now, a massage chair performs a full body massage as well. The difference is the massage chair works in parallel, so all major areas are receiving massages simultaneously. Since all areas are being massaged, the total massage time is only 10 minutes. The massage therapist by contrast work 5 areas for 10 minutes each for a total of 50 minutes. The massage therapist takes 5 times longer to cover the same area.

What is the most important way a massage chair can help you? Simple, the massage recliner is always available for you when you need it. Having a massage chair at home is an easy way to integrate massage therapy into your daily routine. Massage therapy is most effective when received on a continuous, periodic basis. Stress is built up in the body on a continuous basis with everyday life and needs to be relieved on a continuous basis. Having a massage chair recliner allows you to select from a variety of massage types and focus on trouble areas. Take some time to integrate massage therapy into your total health routine with a massage chair recliner.

Take care of your health Why not improve it from daily massage treatments from a Massage Chair? Take your time and study the premier massage chair brands from Panasonic, Omega and Sanyo.
