Benefits Of A VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet)
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010Obesity in American is on the rampage, and the main reason is that people eat more food than the body needs says Dr. Anju Mather. People who want to lose weight and keep it off using a VLCD (very low calorie diet) need to find out more about it.
If you look at aging theories, one aging theory is that if you consume more calories than what the body needs the body actually ages faster. If you reverse that, you’ll find that a low-caloric diet prolongs a lifespan of an individual. A study was done on rats, one group was fed fewer calories as part of their regular diet, and the other was fed considerably more. Those with a low-caloric diet had a longer lifespan, about one and a half times longer than the regular lifespan of rats.
Theory behind the Diet
VCLD is the abbreviation for Very Low Calorie Diet. This diet is based on the idea of not consuming more calories than the body needs. Dr. Mather has refined a program called the “Slim and Trim at Last” program, part of which is a very low calorie diet. But also included in this procedure is injections of hCG hormone, which converts unnecessary body fat into energy. When you use up fat for energy, the body doesn’t need so much food to function.
When a patient starts the diet and daily injections of hCG, he or she can lose up to a pound of fat a day. A pound of fat is converted into 3,000 calories, so with that many calories to run the body, a patient needs only consume 500 calories. Dr. A. T. W. Simeon original researched this procedure in the 1960’s.
Empty Calories
Dr. Mather mentions she regularly sees people who eat for two – over 5,000 calories a day. Fast food is rampant, and every portion is huge, because food is cheap. However, most of the food contains little nutritional value, but it does contain toxins, which are stored in body fat.
So a very low caloric diet combined with a hormone shot breaks up the fat in the body and coverts it into energy, with no negative side effects. It only works in conjunction with the hormone shot. If you only do the low caloric diet it is called starvation, as you do not have the energy you need to perform the normal physiological functions of the body.
By itself, a low caloric diet will not work as it breaks down the structural fat and it breaks down the proteins of the body first. Structural fat and protein in muscle is needed by the body to operate.
Many successes have been achieved by the “Slim and Trim at Last” program at Angel Longevity Medical Center. But the key is to use both the hormone and the diet, because the hormone breaks down the stored fat, which is what makes a patient obese. The research originally done in 1988 has been refined and is now available to everyone.
