The Ab Circle Pro

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

The first time I saw the Ab Circle Pro it was actually in the free weight section of my gym. I had no idea what it was and it looked a bit intimidating so I kept my eyes peeled to see if someone might jump on and give it a whirl. There is nothing more embarrassing than being in a gym filled with muscle heads and using fitness equipment the wrong way.

Nobody got on it that day and I still really had no idea what the device did. Then I saw it on TV. I was surprised that As Seen On TV stuff had found its way into my Gym because most of those products seem to be, well you know, worthless. But, I watched the ab circle pro commercial and watched fitness model Jennifer Nicole Lee explain how it worked and I was getting psyched to hit the gym and try it out.

But hey, if it was in my gym it must do something good. The fact that I was interested in trying it after I found out it worked my abs was a miracle for me. I always skipped working abs because I never saw much result and it took a lot of effort. Eventually I found myself skipping them all together and focusing on my chest and arms. But, abs are really crucial and if I found an easier way to attack them, I’d probably get back into doing them. The ab circle was quite easy to use and didn’t hurt my back and neck like situps.

The ab circle pro supposedly combines cardio with core strength training to provide a “double whammy” while it targets your ab muscles. That’s all fine and good I suppose as long as it’s easier to do than most of the traditional ab exercises which don’t do a whole lot. My gym has an entire row of odd looking machines that sit empty because members are not compelled to use them. If they worked, I’m assuming there would be a line to get to them.

For me, the entire appeal of the machine is that it’s supposed to be easy to use. Not just simple, but easy to target your abs without too much effort. The effort part is what was killing me in my other routines. So when I did try the ab circle, I immediately noticed how easy it was. There was no strain on any part of my body other than my midsection and that is the type of pain that’s good. If you don’t have one at the gym, there are plenty of videos online showing it in action.

The truth is the ab circle pro is very easy to use. Once you get on it and start swaying side to side the momentum you create carries you through to the next position and your abs burn. Within about 20 seconds of starting you should feel some stretching in the abs. This really can be sustained throughout the entire workout and you will definitely feel like you are doing something positive for your body. I will say that I don’t believe it will melt off the pounds without some serious dieting and over all body routines but it will tone the abs and it will do it with an easy process.

I do want to point out that I did not buy the Ab Circle Pro, I only used the one at my gym and continue to do so. I love it but I notice that very few overweight people use it. I’m not sure if they are intimidated or they are scared it will not hold them but at my weight of 185 lbs, it is wonderful. I would only recommend buying it if you really intend on using it. If not it is a waste of money.
